One of the most interesting areas in which religious organizations have been working over the last 100 years is adoption. In the U.S., most adoption organizations are faith-based.
A recent survey by Heartbeat International, asked various questions about adoption and the preferences of those involved in the process. The results were striking: the vast majority of respondents preferred to work with a faith-based adoption agency rather than a secular one.
In fact, 72% of the respondents agreed that they would choose a faith-based organization over a non-religious adoption agency. Additionally, the survey found that clients of these pregnancy clinics strongly preferred to work with an adoption agency that matched their own personal faith commitment.
This data shows that many women who decide to place their child for adoption would rather work with a religious organization than a secular one. This preference highlights the significant role that faith-based adoption agencies play in the adoption process in the United States.
