FAQs

Q. What is Faith Facts’ value proposition?

A. Academic findings about the value of faith deserve public attention. Researchers speak the language of scholarship, as they should. We are a bridge between the academy and the public. We aim to showcase data that too often can be “lost” in behind the paywall of academic journals, and we hope to make it more accessible, reader-friendly, and visually appealing.

Q. How reputable is the data you rely upon? What is the source of the data?

A. Absolutely. We are not journalists, but we believe stories about harm done in the name of faith warrants extensive coverage. Still, one would not evaluate aviation safety just on plane crash stories. The data about positive impacts of religious faith must be part of the conversation. Scholars from a wide variety of religiousback grounds have concluded that the weight of the scholarly evidence points toward faith being a net plus for society.

Q. What organizations are behind Faith Facts?

A. Faith Facts is a project of Faith Counts, a nonprofit organization. Faith Counts is the sum of the contributions of a diverse group of faith partners, all of whom can be found here. Faith Counts partners generously contribute staff time, content, strategic guidance, and multimedia production. The governance and content criteria are agreed upon by each partner, and that agreement can be found here. Faith Facts’ primary financial contributor is The Templeton Religion Trust.

Q. Why did you choose disaster relief, healthcare, immigration, and criminal justice as topics to cover?

A. Public opinion research shows that these are areas of intense public concern. There is also a large body of research about each one of the areas, so the impact claims are on solid ground. We plan to expand the subject areas in the coming months.
